Behind the Birthday Collection: The Pointelle Sets We Made for Poise’s First Birthday
p.s. we turned one ♡
A year of Poise called for something special.
The Birthday Collection started months before our first birthday — with a pointelle fabric I found back in January and immediately knew needed to become something.
Soft, feminine, slightly nostalgic and easy enough to wear on repeat. It felt exactly like Poise.
That fabric eventually became Birthday Pink + Birthday Blue and the starting point for our first birthday collection.

The pointelle fabric that started it all
I’m constantly saving fabrics, colors and tiny details that I think could become something for Poise one day.
When I found this ribbed pointelle fabric in January, I loved that it felt elevated without trying too hard. It had the softness you want from pajamas, but the texture made it feel much more special than a basic sleep set.
So we started sampling.
We adjusted the fit, chose the colors and turned it into the Birthday Pointelle Pajama Set — a long sleeve button-front top with matching shorts designed for sleeping, getting ready, traveling and all the mornings you stay in your pajamas a little longer than planned.
Birthday Pink is the soft, feminine pink we kept coming back to.
Birthday Blue is the perfect baby blue that somehow goes with everything.
And just like that, the colors of our first birthday were born ♡
Made to become part of your routine
One thing I’ve learned from building Poise is that the pieces you love most usually aren’t the ones you save for a special occasion.
They’re the ones you reach for constantly.
That was the goal with these sets.
We wanted to create women’s pointelle pajamas that felt cute enough to make getting ready more fun but comfortable enough to actually sleep in. The kind of matching pajama set you pack for a girls’ trip, wear while doing your makeup and immediately put back on after laundry day.
Because your routine might be a mess sometimes.
Getting dressed doesn’t have to be.
Why we made them in small quantities
This collection also represents how we want to keep building Poise.
Our Birthday pieces were cut and sewn in the USA in small quantities rather than produced in massive inventory runs.
As a growing brand, producing this way lets us be more intentional about what we make, learn what our community actually wants and continue improving every collection.
It also means that when a Poise piece becomes part of your routine, you’re wearing something from a much smaller production run than what you would typically find at a major retailer.
Then we decided to take the birthday on tour
The collection was only one part of the birthday.
If you’ve followed Poise over the last year, you know some of my favorite moments haven’t happened online.
They’ve happened in real life.
At pop-ups. Pilates classes. Matcha runs. Events. And in cities where I’ve gotten to actually meet the girls wearing Poise.
So instead of celebrating our birthday in one place, we brought it back to some of the cities that became part of our first year.
Tampa. Miami. New York City. Charleston.
And the Birthday Cake Matcha Tour was born.
Birthday Cake Matcha, but make it Poise
We partnered with some of our favorite matcha spots to create a Poise Birthday Cake Matcha in each city.
Then came the little details.
Custom cups. Stickers. Signs. Birthday graphics. Giveaways. And, of course, Birthday Pink + Birthday Blue everywhere.
What started as a small idea turned into a four-city birthday celebration for the brand.
And seeing the collection we had been working on for months finally out in the world — being worn, photographed and celebrated by our community — was one of those moments that made the entire first year feel very real.
One year of Poise
A year ago, Poise was an idea I was trying to figure out.
Since then, we’ve launched collections, hosted events in different cities, met so many of you in person and learned an unbelievable amount about what we want this brand to become.
The Birthday Collection feels like a little time capsule of that first year.
From finding a piece of pointelle fabric in January to seeing Birthday Pink + Birthday Blue come to life months later.
And we’re only getting started.
If you’re new here, welcome to the society ♡
And if you’ve been here since the beginning, thank you for giving me a reason to keep making things I hope become part of your everyday routine.

p.s. happy birthday to us ♡
